October 4 — Trusting God While You Wait
Scripture
“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”
Psalm 27:14 (ESV)
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thy heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” (KJV)
Encouragement
Waiting can be one of the hardest parts of trusting God.
We pray for direction, healing, provision, restoration, or an answer—and then nothing seems to happen.
Days pass. Sometimes months or even years pass.
In those seasons, it is easy to wonder whether God has forgotten us.
But waiting does not mean God is absent.
God is often working in ways we cannot yet see. He may be preparing circumstances, changing hearts, building our character, or protecting us from something we do not understand.
Psalm 27:14 tells us to be strong and take courage while we wait.
That courage does not come from knowing when the answer will come. It comes from knowing the One we are waiting on.
Waiting on God is not wasted time.
It is an opportunity to grow deeper roots of faith.
Instead of asking only, “Lord, when will this change?” we can also ask, “Lord, what do You want to teach me while I wait?”
Trust God with the answer.
Trust Him with the timing too.
Prayer
Dear gracious Father,
Waiting is difficult for me. When answers seem delayed, help me remember that You have not forgotten me. Strengthen my heart and teach me to trust Your timing. Help me grow closer to You while I wait instead of allowing impatience or discouragement to take over.
In Jesus’ merciful name, amen.
First Step Challenge
Write down one thing you are waiting on God for.
Then write:
“Lord, while I wait, help me become more __.”
Choose something God may be developing in you—patient, faithful, peaceful, obedient, or courageous.
Thought for Today
God is still working, even when I am waiting.
