October 3 — Trusting God One Step at a Time
Scripture
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (KJV)
Encouragement
We often want God to show us the entire road ahead.
We want to know how everything will work out, what decision we should make next month, and where our present circumstances are leading. But God usually does not give us the whole picture at once.
Instead, He gives us enough light for the next step.
A lamp does not illuminate miles of road ahead. It gives light where we are standing and helps us see where to place our feet next.
That is often how God leads us.
His Word gives us truth for today. His Spirit gives wisdom for the decisions in front of us. And as we faithfully take one step, He continues to guide us.
Trust grows when we stop demanding to see the entire journey before we are willing to move.
You may not know what next week will bring. You may not have the answer to every question you are carrying.
But you can obey what God has already shown you today.
Take the next faithful step and trust Him with the rest of the path.
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
I often want to see everything ahead before I move forward. Help me trust You one step at a time. Guide me through Your Word and give me wisdom for the decisions I need to make today. Keep me from worrying about parts of the journey You have not yet shown me.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
First Step Challenge
Ask yourself:
“What has God already shown me that I need to do today?”
Write down one simple step of obedience and do it.
Thought for Today
I do not need to see the whole path to take the next step with God.
