Walking with God

Listen as You Pray

Scripture

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (KJV)

Encouragement

Have you ever wished God would simply show you what to do next?

Sometimes we want Him to light up the whole road ahead—to show us how everything will work out, which decision to make, or what tomorrow will bring.

But Psalm 119:105 describes God’s Word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

A lamp does not always show us the entire journey. It gives us enough light to see the next step.

That is one of the beautiful ways God guides us as we pray.

We bring our questions, worries, and decisions to Him, and then we turn to His Word. Scripture reminds us of what is true, reveals what pleases God, corrects us when we are going the wrong way, and gives us wisdom for the step in front of us.

We may want God to show us the entire path, while He may be asking us simply to trust Him with the next step.

So when you pray today, do not only ask, “Lord, what should I do?”

Open His Word and ask, “Lord, what have You already shown me?”

Then walk in the light He gives you.

Prayer

Dear all-knowing Father,

Thank You for giving me Your Word to guide me. There are times when I want to see the entire road ahead, but You ask me to trust You one step at a time. As I pray and read Your Word, give me wisdom to recognize the path You are showing me and courage to obey what You teach me. Help me trust You with what I cannot yet see. In Jesus’ Mighty Name I pray, amen.

Thought for Today

God’s Word gives me light for the next step.
