Walking with God

September Series: Walking In Prayer

Scripture

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 (ESV)

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (KJV)

Encouragement

Sometimes we bring the big things to God but try to handle the little things ourselves.

We pray when there is a crisis, when someone we love is hurting, when we face an important decision, or when we simply do not know what else to do. But God does not tell us to pray only about the things that seem important enough.

He tells us to pray about everything.

That means we can talk to God about the worry that keeps returning, the decision we need to make, the person we are concerned about, the responsibility that feels overwhelming, or the ordinary details of our day.

Nothing is too small to bring to our Father.

And notice that Paul says to pray “with thanksgiving.” Even while we are bringing our needs to God, we can remember His past faithfulness and thank Him for who He is.

Whatever is on your heart today, bring it to Him.

You do not have to carry it alone.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that I can bring everything to You in prayer. Forgive me for the times I worry instead of coming to You. Help me to bring You every concern, every need, and every decision, while remembering to thank You for Your faithfulness. Teach me to depend on You throughout my day. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thought For Today

Nothing in my life is too big or too small to bring to God in prayer.
